Seen The Spotted Lanternflies? Unfortunately, They’re Here!

Many people in the Delaware Valley region, including Nether Providence, have seen the arrival of the spotted lanternfly in the past few months. While they are colorful, they are extremely harmful to the vegetation in the area. As the Penn State Extension notes, “SLF presents a significant threat to Pennsylvania agriculture, including the grape, tree-fruit, hardwood and nursery industries, which collectively are worth nearly $18 billion to the state’s economy.”

You can call the Penn State Extension hotline at 1-888-422-3359 with questions on spotted lanternfly management or to report a sighting. You may also report a spotted lanternfly sighting from their website.
