Disposal of Unclaimed Firearms

LEGAL NOTICE

The Police Department of Nether Providence Township is in possession of firearms which were surrendered by their owners or seized pursuant to Protection from Abuse orders which the former owners or their heirs, successors, or assigns may be entitled to reclaim. A defendant, heir, successor, or assign reclaiming a firearm will be required to show two forms of ID at the Nether Providence Police Department, along with proof of ownership, and be cleared through Pennsylvania Instant Check System.

On August 22, 2018, at 9:00 AM in Courtroom 8, the Court of Common Pleas of Delaware County will take evidence and testimony to decide on the Police Department’s request that any firearms unclaimed by August 31, 2018 may thereafter be disposed of in a manner to be determined by the Police Chief.
