The Thomas Leiper House is now open for weekend guided tours
The 1785 Thomas Leiper House is now open for weekend tours. A guide will show you around the house and outbuildings on Saturday and Sunday afternoons from 1 to 4 p.m. You will hear who Mr. Leiper was and his influence in our area, like bringing the name Strath Haven here – that was the town where Leiper was born in Scotland in 1745. He owned over 800 acres along Crum Creek and his stone quarrying business there, and his tobacco selling business in Philadelphia. This house on Avondale Rd in Wallingford was his summer home. No charge for tours, but donations are always welcome.
