Please see the message below from AQUA. Please expect lane closures on Beatty Road, Springlawn, Surrey Lane, Meredith, and Beechwood starting the week of March 13th.
February 27, 2017
Aqua Pennsylvania, Inc. (Aqua) will be replacing an existing 4 and 6-inch cast iron and cement mains on the following street(s) in Nether Providence Township, Delaware County as part of our ongoing infrastructure improvement program.
- Springlawn Drive from Surrey Lane to Meredith Drive
- Surrey Lane from Beatty Road to Meredith Drive
- Meredith Drive from Beatty Road to Surrey Lane
- Beechwood Road from Meredith Drive to Pine Ridge Road
The new main will increase service reliability, reduce the potential for discolored water and improve firefighting capabilities in the area. The $869,000 project is scheduled to begin the week of March 13, 2017, with the installation of 4,578 feet of 8-inch ductile iron main; the installation phase is expected to be completed in August, 2017. Final job completion including final road restoration will not be completed until the late fall of 2017. Aqua will have an inspector on the job each day to track progress and answer any questions you may have.
Following the installation of the new water main, the new main will be flushed, chlorinated and tested for water quality before being placed into service. During the chlorination/testing phase, activity on the job site will be limited. Once the water quality testing has been completed, we will transfer each water service and fire hydrant onto the new main. All final connections to side streets will be performed and abandonment of the old main will take place. It is important to note, the trench will be covered with temporary black-top at the end of each work day.
Daily construction typically takes place between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. During construction we will provide limited access for emergencies, mail and trash services. Also during construction, residents will have reliable access to their properties. However, at times we may need to re-route residents from alternate directions due to changing work zones. We will notify customers 24 hours in advance of any scheduled shutdown of our main or interruptions of water service. Please keep in mind, as with any construction project, emergency shutdowns may be necessary. With any shutdown, it is our goal to restore service to our customers as soon as possible.
If you have any questions regarding the project, please contact us at 610.328.7713. Should you have a non-construction related emergency, including a water quality issue, please call our Customer Service Department or after-hours control center at 877.987.2782.
Resultant of ongoing concerns with lead service lines, Aqua will make an attempt to identify any lead service lines associated with this project. If we are certain or have reason to believe that a lead service line is present and serving your property, Aqua will replace our portion of this service line during the project. If you have an affected property, we encourage you to replace your portion of the service line as soon as possible. Aqua will provide you with instruction for flushing your plumbing and will contact you within 1-2 business days to arrange for water testing, if a lead service line is encountered.
We appreciate your patience and cooperation for the duration of this construction project. It is critical we continue to make important upgrades and improvements to our water distribution system so we can provide reliable service and high-quality water to your homes and businesses.
