Aqua – Road Work on W. Rose Valley

Please see the message below from Aqua:

Aqua Pennsylvania, Inc. (Aqua) will be replacing the existing 6-, 8-and 10-inch A/C water mains on the following street(s) in Nether Providence Township, Delaware County as part of our ongoing infrastructure improvement program.

  • West Rose Valley Road from South Providence Road to West Brookhaven Road
  • Engle Drive from West Rose Valley Road to West Brookhaven Road
  • Taylor Drive from West Rose Valley Road to end of cul-de-sac
  • Logan Lane from Engle Drive 182’ north to house # 108 Logan Lane

The new main will increase service reliability, reduce the potential for discolored water and improve firefighting capabilities in the area. The $868,000 project is scheduled to begin the week of March 12, 2018, with the installation of 5,325 feet of 6-, 8-and 12-inch ductile iron mains; the installation phase is expected to be completed in August of 2018. Final job completion including trench restoration will be completed in the fall of 2018.

Following the installation of the new water main, the new main will be flushed, chlorinated and tested for water quality before being placed into service. During the chlorination/testing phase, activity on the job site will be limited. Once the water quality testing has been completed, we will transfer each water service and fire hydrant onto the new main. All final connections to side streets will be performed and abandonment of the old main will take place. It is important to note, the trench will be covered with temporary black-top at the end of each work day.

Daily construction typically takes place between 7:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. During construction we will provide limited access for emergencies, mail and trash services.  Also during construction, residents will have reliable access to their properties.  However, at times we may need to re-route residents from alternate directions due to changing work zones. We will notify customers 24 hours in advance of any scheduled shutdown of our main or interruptions of water service. Please keep in mind, as with any construction project, emergency shutdowns may be necessary. With any shutdown, it is our goal to restore service to our customers as soon as possible.

If it is determined that an Aqua-owned lead service line feeds your property, Aqua will replace it during the project.  If you own a lead service line, we encourage you to replace it as soon as possible.  Aqua will provide you with instructions for flushing your plumbing and will contact you within 1-2 business days to arrange for water testing if a lead service line is encountered.

If you have any questions regarding the project, please contact us at 610.328.7713. Should you have a non-construction related emergency, including a water quality issue, please call our Customer Service Department or after-hours control center at 877.987.2782.
